AWESOME RAW Indian Carrot Curry Soup!

I told you I was going to shake things up a bit, didn't I? Who would ever think of having a site about what goes on in your everyday life.  LOL! As I stated before, I am a RAW Foodist/Vegan and my family is not. I am sure there are plenty of families out there like this. It can be done (you heard it here first).  So just as I share about deals, domestic living, and my family, so shall I share about me! So here is a recipe for a RAW soup I absolutely adore!

Look at that soup... Doesn’t it make you want to snuggle up with a good movie or book by the fireplace? I fell in love with this soup. As a matter of fact, the first time I made this soup I cut the recipe in half and was so disappointed that I didn’t make the full recipe. It brought my taste buds to a new level of enjoyment with the different spices. The sweet yet savory flavor for the red onions, raisins, and cilantro made me so want more. The creaminess of the avocado and the crispness of the carrot gave this soup a very filling yet not heavy undertone. and it packed a powerful punch with the ginger, garlic, and apple cider vinegar. My husband is not a RAW foodist and he thought the soup was very good. My three year old was all over this soup. I had to make another batch (this time the full recipe) and have frozen half of it to have a couple of days from now. This soup is good kept in the refrigerator for about two days, however, I have learned that in my kitchen I make so many different things that I may not get to have this soup again for about four or five days (though I think that this one wont make it that long). LOL! Enjoy and tell me how you like it!

RAW Indian Carrot Curry Soup
(Serves 4-5)

2 carrots (chopped)
1/4 c red onion
1 clove of garlic
3 c tomatoes (diced)
2 avocados (pitted and peeled)
1/2 c fresh cilantro
1/4 c tahini
2 T curry powder
1/2 t freshly ground black pepper
1 t garam masala (spice)
1/2 inch of ginger root (peeled)
juice of 1/2 a lemon
2 t sea salt
3 T sesame oil
2 T apple cider vinegar
3 T agave nectar (or raw sugar)
2 T nutritional yeast
1/2 t fresh green chili (chopped)
4 c hot water (not boiled)
1/3 c raisins (put these in after the soup is blended)

Mix half of the ingredients and half the water at a time in a blender and pour the contents into a large bowl or pot to combine them (this is only done because most blenders are not big enough for the whole recipe). Serve at room temperature or heat on low only until it gets warm because you don't want to lose all the amazing enzymes in this soup! Garnish with tiny cubes of chopped up red onion, shredded carrot, fresh cilantro, raisins and freshly ground black pepper. Serves 4 or 5.

Setting things in motion

I am glad that it is the new year and all BUT I am not making resolutions. I have decided to throw them out the window and focus instead on goals. Resolutions tend to go by the way side after a while and hey, if you dont keep them there is always next year right? Not this time, not for this gal. No way! I am going to set goals for myself and will talk about them from time to time here as well. No time like the present though to put them out there so here goes nothing:

My Goals 4 the year (2010)

More time in Prayer and God's word
Spend more time with my family
Continue with my education
Make this blog a full time focus
Finish writing my book (more on this project later)
Being Debt Free!
Travel
Make sure household is more organized (set up a schedule for everything I do)
Become more healthy
Weight loss of 25 lbs
Enjoy Life to the fullest

Now I have to get to working on these and I am going to share this all from time to time. Gotta keep it real!
I also created a little mission statementas well for myself this year. My hubby and I will have our mission statement but this one is all mine:

"To live the most successful and secure life ever by making MYSELF and those around me happy. Enjoying life to the fullest by doing what I love and sharing that with others"!

Under Construction!!! Get ready for greatness!!!

Hello family, I have really been thinking about you all. I want to be able to share all of the great things I am learning as well as the great deals that are out there. I want to be able to show you that anything is possible and that if we work together we can do the impossible. Right before the holidays, I had decided to make some changes to my blog and commit to doing this full time. Now that the new year is here, I am able to focus on making this the site that "WE" need it to be. So bear with me over the next couple of days while I tear down a few things, and build up a new site totally for us Domestic Diva's! Let's get this party started shall we???? Well, after we finish working on this, do some cleaning up, introduce the new site, etc..... Okay we will party sometime towards the weekend..LOL! Love you much!

What Blogging means to me!!

I think I have written about this before many times before but not in an actual blog (for school, previous work projects, etc..). Blogging for me is a means of enjoyment. What I mean by enjoyment is that it has become a way for me to share myself with family and friends on a truly personal level all at one time. I feel that it is like a phone call that spans way past "three-way calling". It is a way for me to meet new family and friends also.  It goes past the preliminary, "Hi my name is" introductions and gets to what people are really connected to. They may comment on various posts that interest them or they may share something that is really important  that will help me to live a more productive and happy life. Blogging allows you to be able to shed the mask of what you feel others may want to hear and you are just able to share what you feel. In return, you find that there are others out there who actually feel the same way you do. I have received so much from others that blog, and with that, it means there is no lack for being able to be your absolute best. if  you want to achieve ANYTHING, you can! Others have done it. and look, you can read all about how they have reached success. I feel that I owe others the opportunity to know things that I have learned as well form others. It is sort of a "pass-it-on" of sorts, or a "thank you" to those who have started blogs before me. True success for me is to be able to say and show that I am living a truly, happy, and abundant life and its not due to money (though I do thank God for the blessing of our income) but it is due to the love of my family, friends, and myself. Spreading that, especially during what is going on with the affairs of the nation, is the most important thing that can be done.

In 2010 there is a conference called "Blissdom" (what a great name to describe what blogs are supposed to provide). I feel that attending this event will be able to help me to enhance the purpose of my blog, which is to give back what others have given me. Right now an awesome company called "Steaz" (please check them out and friend them), that sells wonderful organic beverages (I heart Steaz),  they are having a pass giveaway for a the "Blissdom conference. I pray I win because it would be an incredible blessing for me right now.

I know that there are many things that I have yet to learn and that the Blissdom conference is just the vessel to help me to unleash the gift that has been instilled in me. Sharing is one of the greatest and most powerful resources that we hold. My goal is to be able to help others, leave this legacy of sharing with my children, and set the example that life is what you make it.  I thank those who are doing the same and wish everyone continued success.

Been a while? I know....Life happens BUT the blogging must go on....

Hey family, I know that is has been a couple of weeks since my last post. I have ad a few things happen in my personal life since I have been away. I just wanted to encourage those of you this Holiday season that there is a reason for everything that happens (we may not know why at the moment that things happen but there is a reason).  I wish you all the most incredible Christmas this year. I am in transition mode right now (working on ME)!  So bear with me as I share with you some new things as I learn them. One thing that I really want to attend in the coming year is a conference called "Blissdom". Here is a little snippet of what the conference is about:

"Blissdom is the premiere conference for women who find and express their bliss by publishing online.  Blissdom ‘10, our third conference, is a welcoming oasis in the ever-changing blogging world. Speakers and panels featuring the best bloggingpublic relations and social media pros will be gathering to mentor new and old friends alike."

Doesn't that sound awesome! I am in the process of planning to attend.Let's see what happens. I will keep you updated.

So, I am back everyone. Let's enjoy this life that God has given us. Much love to you family! Much love!
